My next week of blogs will be dedicated to the best way to eat your way through NYC and still be a foodie on a budget.
These are the highlights of a culinary journey that will keep me in stretchy pants for the next two weeks!
This was my favorite meal of the trip, and it might have spoiled me for all restaurants to come.
Bouley, by Chef David Bouley, offers a 5 course lunch for 55 dollars; and with all complements of the chef it really is more like 7 courses.
The experience was like eating inside a beautiful tea cup, and I’ve never felt so elegant. Therefore, I have zero photos to show for it—but take my word it was the best. Beginning with an entire cart of fresh baked bread and ending with a 3 tiered desert tray—you will love it all!

We had dinner in The Tavern Room-which is a great way to enjoy the taste of chef Michael Anthony, winner of this year’s James Beard Award for best chef, without breaking the bank. My only complaint was that I clearly felt the difference between The Tavern Room and Gramercy Tavern…but then again the price difference is $48 versus $116. I loved that 3 out of the 4 courses were protein based!
I highly recommend the Grilled Scallop with Sungold Tomatoes, Lima Beans and Grapes—although the hanger steak with okra is a close second.
I’ve been here a million times…but this might have been the best pie I’ve had in a while. Maybe it’s because after just tastes of the good life, I was craving huge portions made for regular folks. John’s Pizzeria on Bleecker is a neighborhood staple and ALWAYS has a line, but the wait make the pizza that much better. I recommend topping it with sardines. Delish!
