Although this blog is all about LA, sometimes you have to brave the unknown and visit the suburbs.
Who knew my first time in La Crescenta-Montrose could be so memorable, and if you go on the right night yours could be too!
Bashan is a tiny restaurant, so make reservations. If you can’t, they allot two tables for walk-ins (which was me) but you will be sitting outside, and when the wine store next door closes you will be practically in the dark…
That being said!!! If you go on a Tuesday-Thursday, you can experience a 3 course tasting menu for $40, and wine pairings for just $15 more.
I don’t recommend the pairings because they weren’t as specialized as I would have hoped, but I do recommend the food!
Here is a look at 3 courses from Chef Nadav Bashan.
Pork Belly “Teriyaki”
Braised Beef Cheek with Red Bliss Sweet Potato Mash
Buttermilk Panna Cotta for Dessert, with Pomegranate Granita
Looking forward to going back to Bashan; the next time being for their Bashan Gourmet Burger-available only on Sundays.
