The Best Frozen Treats in Los Angeles

People say L.A. has no seasons, so that means there’s always a good time to cool down! Here are a few places where you can chill with the best frozen treats in Los Angeles!

Jeni’s Ice Cream (Los Feliz)

For some seriously better for you ice cream head to Jeni’s Ice Cream in Los Feliz. This is the first West Coast outpost and the Eastside sister to the newly opened Venice shop. Generally, with specialty ice-cream shops there is always a flavor that everyone loves the most, but at Jeni’s, it’s a tie between them all! If you’re just finishing up a climb up the Berendo Stairs, pick up a cup of Juniper and Lemon Curd flavor. Although if you’re just polishing off a cocktail I would go with something like Brown Butter Almond Brittle. Want both? The menu caters to the indecisive by selling each cup by the half-scoop (Two for $5.50)

Wanderlust Creamery (Pasadena, Venice, Tarzana, Etc.)

Have you ever taken a bite of something and had it instantly transport you to a place in time? Well, that’s the idea behind Wanderlust Creamery, where every flavor harkens back to a location that co-founders Adrienne Borlongan and Jon Patrick Lopez have experienced. They create new seasonal flavors every month with some signature offerings being made available year-round. Two of those include the Ube Malted Crunch which is inspired by their Filipino-American upbringing; and Passion-Fruit Cacao, inspired by Brazil, and both vegan and dairy-free. ($5.50+)

Sweet Rose Creamery (Santa Monica, Brentwood)

This born-and-bred Santa Monica small business is from the masterminds behind the Rustic Canyon Restaurant Group: Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan. Think small batch and seasonal when you visit Sweet Rose Creamery with two locations plus delivery available! My all-time favorite has to be the Sweet Corn Flavor, made exclusively in the summer time.

Sul & Beans (Koreatown)

My last on the list for best frozen treats in Los Angeles might be the furthest away from traditional “ice-cream”, but you expect this to be the taste you find yourself craving the most at 3 AM on a Saturday night. The cafe Sul & Beans in Koreatown specializes in the Korean shaved ice dessert traditionally made from red beans and then topped with sweet toppings like fruit and condensed milk. This one is the priciest of the bunch at $10 a bowl but it easily be split between two or even three people! Plus you are guaranteed an Instagram-worthy work of art with each bite.
