5 things to love about Winter dineL.A. 2018

DineL.A. kicks off this Friday January 12th and after so much coverage would think I would get tired of it! However this season I still have 5 brand new things to love about Winter dineL.A. 2018.

5. Happy 10 Year Anniversary!

15 days, two weekends, AND the Martin Luther King holiday!!! There’s never been a better opportunity to check out some of the best restaurants in the city at fantastic price-points. Lunch menus are $15, $20, and $25,while dinner menus are priced at $29, $39, and $49, or beginning at $95 for the Exclusive Series. American Express cardholder? Don’t forget to sign up and use your card at all participating restaurants to receive $5 off your final bill of $21 or more.

4. Dinner plus cocktails

A $29 dinner that includes cocktails? That’s what you’ll get at Ray’s & Stark Bar on the LACMA campus during Winter dineL.A. 2018. Menu highlights include the Black Kale SaladMargherita Pizza, and YOUR CHOICE of one of Ray’s signature cocktails (this meal would regularly run you $49!)

3. $15 means all you can eat!

Head in for lunch or dinner ($29) at Hanjip in Culver City and leave so full that you won’t want to eat until the next dineL.A! The meal begins with your choice of Spam Kimchi Fried Rice or Fried Chicken and then your choice of 15 meats or veggies like Bulgogi, Marinated Pork Shoulder, or Baby Octopus. The meal also comes with a daily assortment of Banchans (small dishes).

2. Four courses for $49

Enjoy dinner at the first restaurant in the newly redesigned Beverly Center, and really take it all in with a four-course meal for $49. Michael Mina’s Cal Mare meal begins with a spunti course like Calamari alla Diavola before your antipasti course of Mozzarella della Casa with warm zeppole or Ricciola e Peperoncino (amberjack with capers). Try a fresh Pesce del Giorno or Pizza alla Carbonara for your primi and finish the whole meal off with Gelato e Cannoli for your dolci!

1. Three courses for the price of an entree

Kali in the Larchmont Village area has consistently been on the top of most lists for its deliciously innovative and localized food with carefully curated tasting menus. This isn’t the kind of place that needs to discount their food to get diners inside…but it’s all the more refreshing that they do. The $25 lunch menu is 3-courses with menu highlights like Black Barley Risotto with local cheese to start and a choice between Mary’s Chicken Breast with Raisin and Almond or Uni Pasta with Local Sea Urchin and Whey Emulsion for your main. For dessert it’s Meringue Gelato with Sugar Cured Egg Yolks or a Chocolate Cremeux with cocoa soil and mint. Dinner is also available for $49 with menu additions like the Yellowtail Crudo and Hanger Steak.
