Brick & Mortar-building its way to be the next Main Street Staple

This Saturday night I had the pleasure of sampling the newest gastropub on Main Street, Brick and Mortar. As gastropubs go I particularly liked this one because it was much more gastro and much less pub fare; although of course there was a solid burger on the menu. The restaurant is located next to Edgemar Center for the Arts and it isn’t completely visible from Main street-but that makes more a much more intimate evening.

To start I had the meat plate, while my fiancé enjoyed a nice and spicy tuna tartar. Both of us had red wine-at Happy Hour Prices-which is ever so nice on a Saturday evening.

The main course for me was a delectable pork belly, with plantains and faro. Brick and Mortar is definitely the “perfect bite” sort of restaurant, so I took care to combine all the flavors that the chef provided for my umami moment. My fiancé took the lighter road and had the salmon with a side of broccolini for an extra dose of health.

For those who like cocktails, they had a fantastic menu, fit for the fanciest imbiber. I was especially impressed with the use of gin—a spirit which I find very underused in the bar world.

All in all, a lovely evening, with a wonderful man—and some great mood lighting!
