Doing the hoke POKE

If traditional raw fish isn’t doing it for you anymore, then it’s time for you to try some Poke– sashimi’s fatter brother!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing a taste of Hawaii at Santa Monica’s SHOREbar. It was a sampling of cuisine that will be offered on Chef Sam Choy’s new Pineapple Express food trucks, and along with the great food we got to witness the Iron Chef in Action!

In between bites of tofu and salmon poke I stayed hydrated with SHOREtini’s, made by a master SHOREbar mixologist. The drink was a blend of sweet and savory and if I had stopped at one I probably could provide you with what’s in it—you’ll just have to go yourself and find out!

No good Hawaiian meal would be complete without a good punch ,and mixologist about town Vincenzo Marianella’s keeps it simple with the motto of “make it and go party” ! The punch was a blend of rum, watermelon flavored coconut water, Chandon, simple syrup, and bitters—which actually help to make the drink sweet.

Sam Choy’s Rolling Luau…it SHORE was fun!
