Eat Drink NYC Part 3– the finale!

I thought it would be fitting to end my blog about New York with my final 2 dinners on the Island.

 Dovetail

Chef John Fraser’s restaurant Dovetail is a Michelin Star Awarded Upper West Side Gem.

We went for Sunday Suppa-which is a special 3  course menu for 48 dollars. There’s also a special price for wine by the bottle-but at $47 dollars I think I’d rather just have a second Sunday Suppa! I managed to find a half bottle in the 20 dollar price range, but be warned it’s like a Where’s Waldo on the wine list.

I had to start with the  sautéed foie gras, graham crackers, and huckleberries appetizer-because it’s illegal in LA—and in the words of my fiancé you can feel yourself getting fatter. My duck confit entrée was just as decadent so what better way to finish top the meal then with a fat elvis sundae for desert.

As I write about this meal I feel like I like it more now than I did then, which is more than enough reason to try it again on a future Sunday!

Gotham Bar and Grill

Our last dinner in Gotham City, was at Gotham Bar and Grill by James Beard Award Winning Chef Alfred Portale.

We enjoyed the Greenmarket to Gotham two Course menu for only 25 dollars and split a bottle of delicious and reasonably priced Malbec.

I had my first bowl of cold corn soup-which was remarkably refreshing, and a grilled hanger steak with Romanesco squash. Thanks to the wine we were compelled to order the Gotham Chocolate Cake—an excellent choice and specially priced for us greenmarket goers!

I wish I could take the credit for this delicious trip, but other than my name on the reservation, it was all done by fiancé J. I guess eatdrinkla.com has taught him well 🙂
