To Dassai and Beyond

I have always been content with the run of the mill happy hour Sake at my local Sushi spot–but after a night of Dassai brand sake tasting at Q Restaurant I have been to the beyond—and now there is no going back!

Dassai brand Sake prides itself on creating the Junmai Daiginjo variety-which means it’s the best.

Hiroshi Sakurai, a third generation brewer, starts his brewing and milling process at the level where most Sake companies END! The highest level Sake is what is known as The Beyond, or “going beyond that point”.

Here is a look at a night of taste tests, paired with the finest sushi from Q restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles.

At the Center is Chef Hiroyuki Naruke Note: none of the Sushi is pre-cut

Kamagoyake, or what I would best describe as Japanese Flan

Lastly a taste test between Dassai brand sake 23 and The Beyond…let’s just say this, Happy Hour and Hot Sake are forever ruined for me.
