The Best Weekend Happy Hours You Haven’t Been to Yet!

L.A is a city where most people don’t have 9-5 jobs, so there’s no reason why our happy hours should be defined by the 40 hour work week! Here are some places that truly understand the needs of the hardworking Angeleno. Best of all they are categorized by district!! Keep your eyes out for my baby bonuses along the way.

Downtown L.A.

Drago Centro might not be new to you, but did you know they have a happy hour that kicks off at 11:30 a.m. Monday-Friday? Not to mention a weekend happy hour beginning at 5 p.m. that runs until 10 p.m. Cocktails of the week are only $7 and nothing on their food menu is over that price either!

Baby Bonus: The outdoor patio is superb for tucking your stroller into a corner and blending in with the hum of the crowd.

Mid City

The Lobby Bar at theThe Line Hotel, formerly helmed by masterminds Roy Choi and Matt Biancanielloto, has been taken over by The Happy Hour Agency! Eliana Dominguez, Connie Shen, and Irene Martinez believe the experience has just as much to do with the cocktails and find a magic blend of art and alcohol. Happy hour runs from 5pm-7pm & 10pm- 12am with House Wines for $8 and Spirits for $10. The limited bar food menu comes from Josiah Citrin’s Openaire and ranges from Burgers to Mushroom Bahn Mi (17)!

Baby Bonus: It’s a hotel…so bring on the babies in the bar!

The Pot Lobby Bar

West Central L.A.

Why not Meet in Paris in Culver City! Happy hour at this French bistro runs from 3-5:45 p.m. daily and features house wines and draught beers for $6. Also, nothing on this linner time food menu is over $13 including 8 different varieties of Mussels!

Vivianelocated at the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills has kicked off their summer happy hour menu! Standout items include cocktails  like the Ginger Spiked Suckle ($9) as well as Sparkling and Rosé wines ($7). Available every day throughout the summer from 3-6 p.m.

Baby Bonus: Pack some floaties and enjoy a glass by the pool with your baby in tow.

Viviane Pool

West Side

Red O on Ocean avenue in Santa Monica offers happy hour every day from 3-7 p.m. with menu must-haves like their Classic Guacamole for only $5 and an array of cocktails that go way beyond the Margarita for $7.

West Hollywood/Hollywood

Taste on Melrose in West Hollywood has a new back bar and a new Summer cocktail menu created by mixologist Mark Fantasia. Weekend happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m during which most of the food and cocktails are only $6! Nothing cures a hangover better than a Grilled Cheese Sandwich ($6) or some Korean Sweet Potato Steak Fries ($6) and this level headed thinking just might have you ordering one of the famed specialty cocktails off the non-happy hour menu. I recommend the Little Miss Sunshine, a drink that changes flavors as it gets warmer, made with Bombay Sapphire gin, house made sunshine syrup, fresh lemon juice, and green chartreuse  ($14).

Baby Bonus: High-chairs available upon request and babies are welcome in the back room! The chill ambient music will make you feel like a kid again (before you had a kid).

East L.A. /San Gabriel Valley

Roy’s Pasadena has designed their Aloha Hour to satisfy both families and singles. Come from 4-7 p.m. with the kiddos and after 9 p.m. when you’re out past your bedtime. Enjoy a meal for $10 by pairing an order of Wagyu Beef Sliders ($7) with a Kona Brewing Co. Longboard ($3).

Baby Bonus: High-chairs available upon request, and their outdoor patio on Colorado Blvd. even caters to the 4 legged little ones.

San Fernando Valley East

You can’t swig a cocktail in Los Angeles without tasting the influence of master mixologist Julian Cox, so why not spend happy hour at his Studio City bar, The Fiscal Agent. Happy Hour runs daily from 5-7 p.m. and reverse happy hour goes on Tuesday-Thursday from 10 p.m. to midnight. During this magical time select speciality cocktails that are regularly $14-$16 dollars will only cost you $9 leaving you some money to fill your belly with happily priced food items like the Happy Hour Burger ($9) that come straight from Barrel & Ashes downstairs.

Baby Bonus: Unfortunately their isn’t one…but hey you can’t be with your kids all the time!

Malibu West Valley

First off it’s INCREDIBLY hard to find a weekend happy hour in Malibu because a view of the Pacific Ocean does not require a discount. But instead of abandoning this part of Los Angeles I wanted to include one of my favorite weekday happy hours, Gladstones. Monday-Friday from 3-8 p.m. you can sip on a Gladstones Mojito or a Spicy Mezcal Margarita for $7 while you nosh on Fried Oysters ($8) and a Gladstone’s Steak Taco ($5).

Baby Bonus: Kids are always welcome and the highly desired outdoor deck seating is the perfect place for your little one to scatter his cheerios and watch them blow into the Pacific Ocean.

South Bay/ Long Beach

Much like Malibu it’s no easy feat finding a weekend happy hour discount in Manhattan Beach…or Hermosa Beach…so I’m sending you all the way to Long Beach! The Belmont Brewing Company offers happy hour pricing from 3-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays which means $4 pints and $5.25 well drinks. The food prices remain the same but nothing is over $12 at the BBC.

Baby Bonus: Happy hour is only in the bar area, but babies are more than welcome!

Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak in Glendale has quickly become my go-to neighborhood happy spot for a plethora of reasons. First off you can valet park FOR FREE for 3 hours if you’re going to the restaurant (even if you’re only going for happy hour). Secondly, they have a rotating list of bartenders’ choice cocktails, wines, and bubblies for $8. Thirdly, the most expensive item on the food menu is $13 and that is for the burger that you cannot find on the dinner menu . And lastly, as if you needed more reasons, happy hour happens every day from 4-7 pm.

Baby Bonus: The lounge is baby friendly and they have an outdoor patio should your little one need a little more breathing room.

Although a little on the dive-ier side, The Morrison offers a happy hour everyday from 3PM-7PM that features craft beer, wine by the glass and well drinks for $6. Bar bites include sides and fries for $5, and their Classic Burger for $7.50.

Baby Bonus: This is the ultimate baby in a bar situation. So if you have been dreaming about the old days when you could throw back a few with your friends and had no cares, this is a great place to reminisce.
