Welcome to Castello di Casole!

Well I was a bit of a liar yesterday when I said I would be home watching the movie leap year while leaping…

Instead I went to a fabulous dinner at Osteria Mozza designed to introduce the world to Castello di Casole!

Between bites of Ribolita and Bass alla Livornese, I was taken briefly to the paradise that is to be expected at this new hotel.

The Castello is actually a restored castle nestled comfortably among 4200 acres of land in Tuscany, Italy. It is a 5 star hotel which will feature wine tastings in their vineyards, Olive picking from their trees, and even truffle hunting.

The meal at Osteria Mozza was definitely one of the best I’ve had in Los Angeles-although I am yet to be disappointed by Chef Mario Batali. To my surprise the most memorable part of last night’s meal—beside the Castello di Casole Estate Wine—was a Butterscotch Budino. Even writing this is making me salivate…

This was the best Butterscotch pudding I have ever had in my life and it makes Jello seem like kindergarten paste.

I think the secret is the salt, which made this a savory way to end a beautiful evening.

If you find yourself in Tuscany in July, I recommend a few nights at the Castello de Casole. It promises to be a hotel experience unlike any you have had before.
