Where to Deck the Halls in the City of Angels

Looking for spice up the old humdrum family Christmas get-together this year? Consider some of these alternatives for December 24th and 25th.

Decadent Dining Out

Mr. C Beverly Hills

Not limited to just guests of the hotel, the Lobby Lounge at Mr. C Beverly Hills will be offering live music, and holiday cocktails such as the Spiked Hot Chocolate with Green Chartreuse and orange peel every evening in December from 5 p.m. – 1 a.m. For Christmas eve diners can enjoy a 4-course meal ($89 a person) based on the Italian “Feast of the Seven Fishes” celebration featuring a variety of seafood dishes. Make it a trifecta and try their Christmas Day meal as well ($89 a person for 4-courses) featuring menu highlights such as Veal Tortellini in Consommé and Panettone with Mascarpone Cream and Chocolate Fondant.

208 Rodeo Restaurant

Perfect for the out-of-towners, celebrate Christmas the way commercial America intended in the heart of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Guests can enjoy a 4-course prix fixe Christmas Dinner ($85 a person) with dishes like Roasted Pheasant Bisque; Duck Leg Confit; and Filet Mignon with Roasted Bone Marrow. Not looking for a formal dinner, the restaurant will also be open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Happy Hour.

If cocktails are your reason for the season, consider a Christmas eve meal at Terrine for special menu items like Caviar with smoked trout parfait and or Christmas Goose with foie gras made especially for pairing with Bartender Ryan Wainwright’s new winter cocktail menu.

For their first Christmas in Beverly Hills, Chef Michael Hung of Viviane restaurant in the Avalon Hotel is serving up “Dinner at Chop Suey Palace”, a family-style Chinese feast on Friday, December 25th , in honor of the unexpected holiday meal from the film “A Christmas Story.” Highlights from the menu include Roasted Duck Leg Lacquered in Soy with a Sauté of Mustard Greens and Confit Kumquats and 5-Spice Scented Beignets with Black Sesame Anglaise ($58 per guest $22 for children).

Baby on Board

If you find yourself driving around to the city just to keep your baby quiet this holiday season, then forgo the usual slavery to the kitchen and pick up your yuletide favorites instead.

Little Next Door

Swing by Little Next Door on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to pick up your festive holiday treats like Bûche de Noël and Croque en Bouche because lord knows you can’t make these yourself.

Spend Christmas on the French Riviera, or at least feel like you are, with seasonal take-out from Fig & Olive on Melrose Avenue. Be sure to try the Butternut Squash & Chestnut Velouté, a butternut squash soup accompanied by shaved chestnuts, and a drizzle of Arbequina olive oil.

Party in a Box

I had to throw this in here because it’s the most unconventional Christmas of all, but perhaps the most memorable. Grab your family and head to The Mixing Room at the JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE where your entire holiday is taken care of with Party in a Box.

Starting at $500 the Party in a Box  includes cocktails, small plates, Santa props and more. Best of all The Mixing Room takes care of all the work so you don’t have to. Both fortunately and unfortunately, no babies allowed.

No matter how you jingle those bells this holiday season, make sure you spend it with the ones you love.
