This has become a Homework Time Game-Changer

We all spend hours looking at our computers for work, but that’s quickly becoming standard for our children as well. My 7-year-old has gone from daily worksheets to having almost all his work online and even reading books that way! While a part of me wants to scream and run for the nearest #2 pencil, I also know I need to embrace the change our society is making – which has got to be saving some trees in the process. So what does my son think about online homework? He loves everything but the homework part, of course. That’s where this article comes in. If you need to inspire your own kids to be their best, then get excited about plays.org, and see how it can become the homework time game-changer you’re looking for too.

What is Plays.org

Now you’re probably thinking I’m steering you toward an ABC Mouse sort of educational platform, but after your kids have spent hours practicing reading and math on their Chromebooks at school, it’s the LAST THING they want to do at home (even if they love it at school). Plays.org is a FREE online video games website that offers you thousands of games to try without even having to register. The only reason you would register is to save your favorites. The games are fast-paced and often require mastering a basic skill, like jumping over obstacles, to reach your goal in the various levels. When you find your favorite games, it almost feels like game therapy, allowing for a bit of mindlessness in your busy day.

Don’t get me wrong, though; there are also more challenging games like Chess as well as Educational Games in categories like Spelling, Kindergarten, Multiplication, and more!

Why it’s my Homework Time Game-Changer

Homework is an inevitable part of every student’s day, but it doesn’t have to be boring. I began integrating a little game time in between my son’s homework sessions, and everything has started to feel a lot easier for both of us. For every homework assignment completed, I allow my son to play a few minutes of games on plays.org. before we move on to the next part of his homework. His current obsession is Basket Champs, where you get five chances to make a basket against an opponent. Now you might have noticed I said I let him play for a few minutes, and that’s because the games move so quickly that you can actually complete several rounds in just a matter of minutes. It helps your child feel that they’ve actually played a game and accomplished something, but you don’t need to devote a large amount of time to it. Then they are ready to go back to homework without complaint because they’ve already won.

My Favorite Games

As I mentioned before, I like to zone out a bit when playing online games, so my favorites are the fast-paced games that take little skill on my part like Panda Love and the Electricity Game, where you have to figure out how to reach the power switch by bouncing around in the dark.

Another personal favorite is Pyramid Solitaire, which I use as a sneaky math game with my son. The object is to make pairs to get to the number 13. The game is timed, so you have to be fast, and we both have a lot of fun trying to beat the clock.

The footer of the website has Category-Based Navigation, so you can quickly find whatever type of game you’re looking for there. All the newest games can also be found at https://plays.org/games.

Since new games come out DAILY, I do not doubt that there’s one that will light your child up – and you might even find something for yourself along the way.
