26 Things to Do in November in Los Angeles

The year might be winding down, but the holiday season is just getting started. Here are 24 things to do in November in Los Angeles that will have you wishing the month was longer!

November 1st – 5th

Celebrate the day of the dead with all your relatives in these Dia de los Muertos fiestas happening in Los Angeles from October 31st to November 2nd. Details on specialty cocktails, altars, and more are in the link.

November 1st to the 5th is the 15th Annual DTLA Film Festival at Regal L.A. Live. There will be a total of 15 Feature Length films, along with Shorts, Pilots, and more, making their West Coast debut. The opening night film is Hail Mary, in the horror drama category, which is a genre-bending retelling of the story of Mary and Joseph.

November is World Vegan Month, and on November 1st, plant-based ice cream brand Holi Scoops, along with odd-jobs marketplace Airtasker, will be giving away free pints of ice cream at Sprouts locations around Los Angeles. Rules are just to post a task on Airtasker (which doesn’t have to be completed) with the hashtag #holiscoops to receive a voucher. It’s valued at $7.99.

November 3rd is FREE Friday at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, where from 4 to 7 p.m., you can explore the galleries at no cost. Current special exhibitions include Paul Gauguin’s The Swineherd, on loan from LACMA.

November 3rd is also National Sandwich Day, and discounts on sandwiches are the next best thing to sliced bread. Bar Louie is offering a combo on their Garden Goddess Sandwich, the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich, or the Ultimate Grilled Cheese with tots or fries for less than $10 during lunch. Locations in L.A. Saturday, November 4th to Sunday, November 5th, is the 2nd Annual Applefest Fall Festival at Benny Boy Brewing in Lincoln Heights. The 21 and older event is FREE to enter and features delicious Food Trucks, Apple Pies, Apple Cider Donuts, and a Specialty Cider for the year 2023. You can even help press the cider yourself. Hours are Noon to 9 p.m.

Also happening on the 4th and 5th is the Super Adoption Event hosted by Maria Menounos at L.A. State Historic Park. Hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on both days, and Maria Menounos will be on site Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., along with some adorable pups!

Lastly, November 5th offers a chance to upgrade your wardrobe and save the planet. Friday, November 10th, and Saturday, November 11th, is a FREE Arcade experience like no other: IndieCade’s Night Games at the Jerry Moss Plaza at the Music Center in DTLA. Sunday, November 12th, features a very cool event in Los Angeles if you live for the food scene. L.A. Restaurants Forever: 86 Red Tape is an afternoon event to help support the advocacy work of the Independent Hospitality Coalition, which does work to help save outdoor dining, create unisex bathrooms, and more. Very importantly, the featured restaurants are especially awesome! Tickets are just $75 and include tastings from Anajak, Ronan, Dunsmoor, Pijja Palace, All Time, Pizzana, Tacos 1986, Oy Bar/Jeff’s Table, Fat & Flour, Valerie Confections, All Day Baby, Mozza, and more! LA Restaurants Forever

November 12th is Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights, and Tulsi Indian Eatery in Westwood is celebrating in style. The event features live Indian Dance Performances, Two Indian-style Mocktails, and a full Buffet-Style Meal with Samosas, Tikka Masala, and more. November 13th – 19th

Monday, November 13th, is the 22nd Annual Christmas at The Grove Tree Lighting Celebration at 7 p.m. The star-studded event includes performances by David Foster, Katharine McPhee, plus family activities and snow. Get all the details here.

Tuesday, November 14th, is the start of Mamma Mia at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Get your discounted tickets with this link. The show runs until December 3rd.

Thursday, November 16th, is the return of the largest outdoor ice rink in Los Angeles: The Holiday Ice Rink at Pershing Square. General admission to the rink, including skate rental, is $20, locker rental is $5, and skate helpers are $6.  Timed Tickets can be purchased in advance now.  

Lightscape at the L.A. Arboretum in Arcadia begins November 17th, where on off-peak days, tickets are as low as $29 for non-members. There are also special Santa Days speckled throughout December.

Not to be outdone, L.A. Zoo Lights is turning things on the same night of November 17th, and at the same price of $29 for those value nights.

It’s the most wonderful time of year if you love drinking in the streets of Downtown Burbank! The Burbank Wine Walk is back on November 18th from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Live entertainment and holiday lighting go until 8 p.m.Tickets begin at $55.

November 19th is the start of Enchanted Forest of Light at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada-Flintridge. Tickets for that light spectacular begin at $35 for non-members.

November 20th – 26th

If you haven’t taken the kids to Dino’s Alive yet or Bubble World – why not do both and save a bunch of money? November 23rd is also the 11th annual Turkey Trot Los Angeles, and nothing makes you feel better about your own feast than helping to feed others. Taking place in Downtown Los Angeles on Thanksgiving morning, this year’s event aims to raise $100,000 for those in need at The Midnight Mission. Register for the race or donate yourself here.

Sunday, November 26th, is the 91st annual Hollywood Christmas Parade, and I’ve got an inside secret that will make attending easier than ever! November 27th – 30th

Monday, November 27, 2023, at 5:00 p.m., is the L.A. County Tree Lighting Ceremony presented by The Music Center at the Jerry Moss Plaza in DTLA. The event is FREE, and features live music, art-making activities, and free hot chocolate. Also at 5 p.m. is the Holiday Lights display with tree and menorah at Gloria Molina Park between Grand Avenue and Hill Street. Arrive early!
