Eat Clean

Eat Clean is a healthy meal delivery service that’s also organic, which I could hardly believe when I saw the lower price point. The meals heat up in 3 minutes or less in the microwave and are sent fresh, not frozen. Meal plan choices include Traditional, Plant-Based, Paleo, and Keto.

The menu, which rotates weekly and becomes available at 12:01 A.M. EST on Saturdays, offers over 300 meals. You can see the menu before you sign up right on their website in the On the Menu section and then sign up straight away if you’re enticed. You make your choices after you’ve purchased, though.

Eat Clean Variety

The price for a single meal begins at $12.58 per meal for a box of 6 and goes as low as $9.60 per meal when you order the max 14 meals per delivery, which isn’t hard to go through if you’ve got multiple eaters in the house. You can also mix and match meal plans in each box.

The calorie counts range from the low 300s to under 600, no matter what plan you choose, and the choices are delicious! Personal favorites include the Chimichurri Palomilla Steak with Baked Sweet Plantain and the Paleo Mojo Sliced Chicken with Yucca Mash from the Paleo menu, and the BBQ Pulled Pork with Sweet Plantain Mash from the Traditional menu. All are under 517 calories, with most being in the 400-calorie range. I also never thought I’d enjoy Paleo meals so much.

Pros: The price for an organic meal is much lower than the competitors on this list, even without a discount code, and the choices are varied. I also like that you can choose between a regular or large portion – because sometimes you just want more food (but the regular portion is also plenty). Lastly, it’s nice to see breakfast options on the menu as well, so you can make this a full-day meal plan if you’d like.

Cons: The heating instructions are general, and I felt some meals needed further explanation, such as the Bun-Less Hawaiian Turkey Burger, which had a plastic Paleo Sriracha Sauce inside along with Pineapple and Tomatoes, which I felt probably had to come out versus be left inside to vent/melt. Delivery is also $9.99.

Bistro MD

Bistro MD was created by dieticians, and it’s a great program to work with if you’d like assistance along the way. You can email their team anytime with any questions you might have, and you also get a personal plan breakdown with every shipment. This also includes guidelines for meals you don’t order with them – which I find very considerate.

There are eight different plans to choose from, like Women’s, Men’s, Heart Healthy, and Vegan, to name a few. I was concerned at first that I wouldn’t be able to share it with my spouse, but their Signature plan features meals that hover around 350 calories a piece and are high in protein and balanced carbohydrates, so it works for anyone. The menu is customizable, so you only order the dishes you’d like and can swap out meals for the ones they have chosen for you without changing the calories.

Personal favorites have been Mojo Pork with Black Beans and Rice, Blackened Chicken and Creamy Smoked Paprika Sauce, and Pork Tenderloin with Country Style Gravy and Mashed Potatoes.

The meals come frozen, and you can keep them there until you’re ready to use and defrost them a day or two before.

Bistro MD Delivery

You can get a whole day of meals delivered or choose just lunch and dinner entrees for either 5 or 7 days. As I mentioned before, you’ll also get personalized recommendations for the other meals, so breakfast is often the easiest to replace to keep costs lower. The 5-day program with lunches and dinners costs $149.90 for ten meals, and you can get 40% off plus FREE Delivery with this link to make it $89.94 for the first order.

Pros: You get personalized attention, including emails with tips and a printed plan just for you with each delivery. They are also very fast to respond to questions sent via email, which is refreshing.

Cons: While the food tastes good, it also tastes healthier than some of the competitors listed on this page. Since the meals are lower in calories and designed to help with weight loss rather than just convenience, this is to be expected.

FACTOR_

FACTOR_ (formerly Factor 75) is an improved version of the popular meal delivery company Freshly. Instead of just being able to order one kind of meal, you can choose from Keto, Calorie Smart (less than 550 calories), Vegan/Veggie, and Chef’s Choice. The menu changes weekly with over 35 options, and it’s freshly made food that you can microwave up quickly.

You can choose from 6 to 18 meals a week, and the more you buy, the less it is – with the average cost being about $12.50 for 10 meals a week. There are also Desserts and Smoothies to add on if you’d like to supplement your meals.

Pros: Your first box can be 50% off, and the food is delicious!

Cons: You have to pay for shipping, which is $10.99.

CookUnity

It’s hard not to scroll through Instagram and not see an ad for CookUnity – and I have to admit they all look delicious. The meals are crafted by a collective of chefs and made with sustainably sourced seasonal ingredients, which you can customize to your dietary needs. It even includes sub-categories like Dairy-Free, along with the usual Paleo and Vegan. The meals are fresh, not frozen, and heat up in minutes.

The ordering process begins with a questionnaire where you choose your preferred 3 Protein Sources, which range from Chicken to Vegan. Next, you designate items you might want to avoid, such as Dairy, Soy, or Spicy Flavors

From there, you Pick your Meals, which can be narrowed down with a Calorie Count (under 600) or by Low carb or Protein Choice. This makes it easy to mix and match if you’re getting a box for more than one person per week.

The menu has over 150 options to choose from, and it’s almost too much to look at, but it keeps you motivated to stay on the plan so you can have more variety in your life.

The first Cook Unity dish I tried was the Grilled Asian Hanger Steak with Charred Broccolini by Chef Stacy Bareng, which was absolutely DELICIOUS! The rice was so rich and buttery that I finally had to check the calorie count again and had failed to notice it clocked in at 840 eek. I promptly split it with my husband.

On the other hand, you can order something like the Seared Salmon & Cauliflower Lentil Mujadara by Chef Einat Admony and enjoy something very tasty but made with less salt and rounding out at 520 calories.

CookUnity Salmon with Lentils

The price for a single meal begins at $13.59 for the smallest 4 meals per week box and is as low as $11.09 a meal if you order 16 meals a week. The average price for a box of 8 meals is $11.69. If it’s your first time ordering, be sure to take advantage of discount codes like 30OFF, which gives you 30% off your first week, or SNAILMAIL, which gives you 50% off two weeks!

This is a great meal plan to choose if you’re looking for convenient gourmet meals and aren’t as concerned about calories.

Pros: You select your meals before you pay, so you know from the start you’re buying something you want. I also love seeing the chefs next to the dishes they created, it makes it feel much more personal, and it’s fun when you recognize one. This company also has a zero-waste mission, so the packaging is compostable and comes delivered in a reusable ice bag.

Cons: I don’t love the upsell for Chef Specials, which might also be due to the quality of the meat. The additional price ranges from $2.99 to $9.99. There’s also a delivery fee of $9.99, along with taxes and service fees.

Join the Cook Unity Family here, and don’t forget those discount codes. SNAILMAIL is my favorite offering.

Diet to Go

Diet-to-go powered by Freshology is a great way to lose weight while eating nutritious meals that you don’t have to think about and that have been customized based on diet preferences and your own personal stats in this Diet Analysis.

Choose between five menu plans like Balance and KetoCarb30, and decide if you want two or three meals a day and how many calories you want (different for women and men). They also have a popular plan if you’re Pre-Diabetic. The menu rotates every five weeks, and all meals can be customized after placing an order.

The Balance plan includes items like Turkey Picadillo, Crusted Tilapia, and Veggie Rice Bowls. The newer Mediterranean menu feels less calorie-restricted than the others and includes dishes like Porcini Mushroom Chicken, Moroccan Lentil Salad, and Salmon Cake over Rice Pilaf.

Pros: The cost is pretty good at about $12 a meal if you are ordering two a day, and currently, you can get 20% off your first week.

Cons: Delivery is limited and costs $10!
