EatDrinkMonaco

How does Monaco, the second smallest country in the world, possibly hold so many Michelin starred restaurants? Well perhaps the guide takes into account millionaires per square mile!

Here is your guide to two days on the French Rivera; where you’ll eat like royalty at citizen prices.

What are you Eating?

Choosing lunch over dinner will keep more euros in your pocket while still ensuring you taste the essence of the restaurant.

Le Grill (Hotel Monte Carlo)

Walk off the elevator of the 8th floor of The Hotel Monte Carlo and you’ll see why people live here. The panoramic view is visible at every table and the roof opens entirely so you can eat under the stars; although I propose its best seen in the daytime.

Le Grill View

The Traditional 4-course Menu is €135, but during lunch they offer a 3-Course Menu which includes 2 glasses of wine and mineral water for €85!

The restaurant currently holds a Michelin Plate status and while the menu changes seasonally, here is glimpse of what you might enjoy in Spring.

Joël Robuchon (Hotel Métropole)

One of three Joël Robuchon restaurants on the hotel property; Joël Robuchon Monte Carlo currently has Two Michelin Stars and offers Mediterranean cuisine with an essence of Robuchon.

Depending on your appetite your lunch will range between €62 and €97 a person with the base lunch including an Amuse Bouche, Starter, Main, and Dessert.

The Bread Cart never stops rolling; so if you’re trying to keep it light but memorable, then the €62 with a €12 Sommelier Selected Wine is all you need.

No matter what you choose all main dishes come with a side of what is undeniably the best Mashed Potatoes in the World.

The restaurant is very kid-friendly at lunch; among other reasons to enjoy it in daytime.

Le Vistamar (Hôtel Hermitage)

Le Vista Mar at Hôtel Hermitage has One Michelin Star and four different menu options to taste the cuisine of Chef Benoit Witz.

The Business Lunch Menu at €59 includes an Amuse Bouche, 2 Courses of your choosing, a ½ bottle of Mineral Water or a Glass of Wine, and a Sweet Finish.

Diverging from my lunch theme a bit though, the four-course Seasonal Menu is €78 AT DINNER so this might be the best way to fill your Monte Carlo nights if you’re out at the Casino.

Now where are you Staying?

Wouldn’t it be nice to just come upstairs after your dinner at Le Vista Mar? The Hotel Hermitage is a time capsule to the La Belle Époque with guest rooms fit for nobility where you have breakfast under a glass dome designed by Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel.

The service is impeccable, like when the staff brings your room service because you and your child slept through breakfast and your husband didn’t…

Those are the moments that make you want to drain your 401K to come back.

Room Service Hotel Hermitage

Yes you can book more affordable hotels; but they won’t come with a pair of slippers for your two-year old, and a view of the palace from your sweeping balcony.
