It’s officially spring in Los Angeles, and the city is blooming with activities and new restaurants to enjoy! Here’s everything you need to be doing in LA in April to come out smelling like a rose.

Try a New Restaurant
On April 2nd, the iconic NYC doughmaster H&H Bagels opens in Echo Park. To celebrate the opening, the first 250 customers will get a mystery H&H tote bag with a gift card, so be there bright and early at 6 a.m. The address is 1498 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026.
Also on April 2nd, check out Mom’s List, a new chef-driven burger concept from founder Ziad “Zee” Batal, in Culver City. Expect the ingredients to be “Mom-approved” as this restaurant was inspired by the Chef’s mother and her handwritten lists in search of the best foods to feed her family. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
On April 5th, Darling in West Hollywood officially launches Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The vibes are Ibiza meets Virginia, with dishes like Fried Chicken and Red Fife Pancakes with buttermilk ricotta, served alongside Sungold Tomato Cocktails with dashi. All the while, a DJ will be spinning in the sunshine. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Viva La Mamma from Vienna is now open in West Hollywood. Although the restaurant is Austrian, the menu is Italian. Menu highlights include Black Pearl Spaghetti and Pistachio Old Fashioned cocktails.
There’s a new bar in Chinatown, Mitsi, opening on April 17th. Innovative cocktails include Rosé Martinis and Negronis with Palo Santo. Hours are 6 p.m. from Thursday to Saturday.
Also on April 17th, you’ve got Bengara, a new Japanese grill specializing in binchōtan charcoal and genshiyaki cooking techniques from very pedigreed chefs. The menu features Kobujime Ocean Trout and Crispy Pork Belly Tacos with mochi tortillas.
BADMAASH Venice is now officially open and serving BADMAASH Steak Frites and Lamb Neck Korma, among familiar dishes like Dad’s Famous Coconut Curry Mussels. This location really expands the DTLA menu, including upleveled Cocktails.

Save Big on National Burrito Day (April 2nd)
National Burrito Day is April 2nd, and the savings are on a roll! Tocaya Modern Mexican will be offering FREE Chips AND Guacamole with any Burrito purchase for rewards members. Meanwhile, Farmer Boys will be serving BOGO Breakfast Burritos, available exclusively through the Farmer Boys VIF App.

Get all the Spring Feels (Ongoing)
The Super bloom is upon us, which is the best time of year to get out and smell the flowers.
In the Los Angeles area, the must-view spots include Point Dume in Malibu and Chino Hills State Park in Chino Hills. If you choose to venture out a little further to the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, you can check out their live cam first, so you don’t waste your gas in case things aren’t blooming yet to your liking.
You can also check out Cuyama Buckhorn for their Fifth Annual Wild Flour Celebration from April 24th to the 26th. Events center on wildflowers and wild flour, as the name suggests, and you can expect classes, hiking, and More. Visit the website to learn more about accommodations for your weekend.

Play at the Santa Anita Spring Carnival (April 4th and 5th)
There’s something for everyone at the Santa Anita Spring Carnival in Arcadia. Taking place the 4th and the 5th of April, it’s a fun place to celebrate Easter Sunday. Events include a BBQ Championship, an infield Easter Egg Hunt, Rides, and More.
Purchase your tickets here for Unlimited Ride Wristbands for as low as $32, plus entrance and parking. On-site tickets are also available for a few dollars more.

Attend First Fridays at some L.A. Museums (April 3rd)
Party with the dinosaurs after dark during the First Fridays event at the Natural History Museum. This month’s theme is Life at the Planetary Scale, featuring live music, signature cocktails, and curated family fun. Tickets are $30 or $20 for members. Get them here. The event begins at 6 p.m.
Also on April 3rd is First Fridays at Norton Simon in Pasadena, where admission from 4 to 7 p.m. is FREE and no reservation is required.

Party at the Angels 1st Home Game (April 5th)
It’s officially baseball season, and the Angels are playing at home in Anaheim on Friday, April 3rd, at 6:39 p.m. against the Seattle Mariners. Enjoy discounted tickets with this link.
Remember to leave room for the New Angel Stadium Menu lineup, including delicious sweets from the Pac-Man Cafe and Savory Big A Burgers. It’s going to be a delicious season.
Sip some Suds on National Beer Day (April 7th)
National Beer Day is April 7th, and unlike other foodie holidays, this one has some deep roots. The 7th is a commemorative date from 1933 when Beer was legalized in the US by Franklin D. Roosevelt. Yard House is celebrating with $10 Half Yards All Day, and I expect more L.A. spots to be brewing some deals.
Also for your consideration is the Montrose Craft Beer Festival along Honolulu Avenue on April 12th. The event is from Noon to 4 p.m., and for your $60.54 Pre-Sale Ticket, you get unlimited Drink Pours and Food Samples along with a souvenir 4-oz tasting glass while you enjoy Live Music and Lawn Games. The event is for those 21 and over only.

Eat up For a Good Cause (Various Dates)
Several foodie festivals are happening this month in Los Angeles, offering a chance to overindulge in the name of helping those who need it most.
Taste of the Nation and the No Kid Hungry Dinner are collaborating this year for Night Out for No Kid Hungry! The event takes place on Saturday, April 11th, at Rolling Greens in Downtown Los Angeles. Guests can choose to do a Tasting or a sit-down Dinner. Secure your spot here.
Masters of Taste in Pasadena offers a chance to sample over 100 Master Chefs, Beverage Masters, and Dessert Masters, all the while benefiting Union Station Homeless Services. Enjoy a Free Concert (April 7th, April 14th, April 21st, April 28th)
Elevate your lunchtime in DTLA with a FREE Concert courtesy of the Colburn School for Performing Arts. The first 50 attendees will also receive FREE Groundwork Coffee. The school is located at 200 S. Grand Avenue, and concerts begin at noon.
Food Collabs and Events (Various Dates)

Hotel Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica is turning 100 this year and they’ve got Prohibition-themed Cocktails and a throwback Brown Derby Cobb Salad for $19.26 as one of the many centennial tributes.
Also in icon news, La Dolce Vita in Beverly Hills is turning 60, and celebrating with revamped signature sips like the Bombshell, a tequila martini with an old-school twist of Strega.
Boxx Coffee Roasters in DTLA is starting a new Boxx at Night program April 16th to the 18th, when they will be pouring non-alcoholic java-based cocktails after hours from 6 to 10 p.m.
As I’m a sucker for Martinis, it’s hard not to love the $29 Mini Meal Deal from Lawry’s Beverly Hills. It features a Mini-Burger, a Crispy Potato Bite topped with crème fraîche and Astrea caviar, and a full-size Meat & Potato Martini with prime rib stuffed olives. It’s available Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the bar.
Hot on the heels of Sinners, you can experience your own juke-joint night at Desert 5 Spot on April 2nd at 9 p.m.
Gas prices got you down? L.A.’s classic diner, NORMS, wants to lift you up with a day of FREE FOOD. This offer is good for loyalty members on All-You-Can-Eat Soup, Salad, and Garlic Toast on Wednesday, April 8th, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Crudo & Nudo is celebrating 5 years in Santa Monica with some special collaborative dinners from April 13th to the 19th. See the list on Instagram.
Available April 4th through June 28th, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills is launching a special The Devil Sips Tea in honor of The Devil Wears Prada 2. Expect “Cerulean” Martinis and “Editor in Chief” truffled-egg sandwiches. Afternoon Tea takes place Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to 3:30 PM. The cost is $84 per person ($42 for guests under 12), and reservations can be booked via OpenTable. Parking for 2-hours is included.
Beginning April 11th, Tiki Kai in Hermosa Beach is bringing those rum cocktails to the daytime with brunch. Fun new items include Island Pancakes and Bloody Marikos. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Los Feliz favorite Mírate has got a new brunch menu from Executive Chef Alan Sanz, inspired by his childhood in Mexico City. Pistachio & Avocado Egg Toast and Flautas de Barbacoa are just a few of the new dishes to make your mouth water.
Tocaya is celebrating its 10th Anniversary with 10 Days of Deals from April 18th to the 27th. Think All-Day-Happy-Hour, $10 Bowls, and FREE Items for Loyalty Members.
Lastly, launching April 24th, All’Antica Vinaio is launching Florence Underground, only in Los Angeles. It’s an exclusive dinner series with just 30 seats a night on select evenings through June 26th. The family-style meal centers on la Bistecca alla Fiorentina, with a cost of $65 per person and $35 for wine pairings. Reserve on Toast.

Food Deals that aren’t “Taxing”
April 15th is the Tax Deadline for many Americans, and JINYA Ramen Bar wants to ease the pain with their “Taste Without the Tax” promotion running every Tuesday throughout April. Just say “tax-free” when ordering in; alcohol is excluded.

Music and Arts (Ongoing)
It’s OperaFest LA month, which brings together companies including Beth Morrison Projects, LA Opera, Long Beach Opera, The Wallis, and many more to highlight the immense amount of talent in this city. See the events page to pick your favorite. At the LA Opera, Giuseppe Verdi’s final masterpiece, Falstaff, is on for just 8 performances beginning April 18th.
Beginning April 4th and running through May 3rd, the Pasadena Playhouse is hosting weekly performances of The Lizard & El Sol for children in the park with locations in both Pasadena and Altadena. Check the schedule before you head out. Shows are FREE and only 20 minutes at both 9:30 and 11 a.m.

Enjoy Easy Mornings at Grand Park (April 4th and 18th
Enjoy four hours of FREE family fun designed to support small businesses and encourage creativity in the community on Saturdays from 10 to 2 p.m. Activities atGloria Molina Grand Park’s Easy Mornings include Yoga, Puppet Shows, Crafts, and Live DJ Entertainment. Get “Toasted” on 4/20
When a sandwich shop has the word toasted in its name, you know it’ll have something good going on for 4/20. The Deal of the Day historically for Cheba Hut Toasted Subs is Nug Sandwiches for just $4.20. Check back on this post later in the month for confirmation.
If you’d like to go a little more hardcore this holiday, The Original Cannabis Cafe in West Hollywood is back in business. It is a combination restaurant and dispensary for the over-21 crowd.

Celebrate Earth Day (April 22nd)
More than 50 Earth Day Celebrations are happening in Los Angeles, including many a Beach Cleanup. Register here for the Venice Beach cleanup beginning at 10 a.m. on April 22nd. Glendale will hold an Earth Day Fair on April 6th, where you can donate clothes, enjoy games and face painting for kids, and learn about conservation. The event begins at 10 a.m. in Verdugo Park.
On April 22nd, you can also gather for a Make Food Not Waste Pop-Up Dinner at LA’s Little City Farm. This is one of three dinners in the series that pairs NYC and LA Chefs together for a waste-not, want-not feast. All the proceeds will go to LA Compost, and it’s hosted by the most adorable food recycler on the market: Mill. Dinner on the 22nd brings together Mike Fadem of the Ops pizza restaurant in New York and Chef Aaron Lindell of the beloved Quarter Sheets here in Los Angeles.
One of the most delicious ways to enjoy Earth Day every day this month is through Salt & Straw‘s “Waste Less Series,” which upcycles ingredients rescued from landfills. Chocolate Malted Potato Chip Cupcake is just one of the new ice cream flavors on rotation for April.

Stagecoach Music Festival (April 24th-26th)
If you missed Coachella, perhaps you’d like to head out to the desert for another kind of concert. Celebrate Country music’s biggest festival with passes for a whole weekend at the Stagecoach Music Festival, where you can enjoy artists like Lainey Wilson and even Post Malone in Indio, California.
