Improve Your Mental Health with these FREE Events in Los Angeles
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s no coincidence that Mother’s Day is part of this month too! The theme overall is self-care for the one you love the most, and radical self-love is probably my favorite phrase to come out of 2025 so far. Here are some FREE events in Los Angeles where you can improve your mental health, from a year of free ice cream to a wellness walk.

Take a Walk on the Wellness Side
There’s nothing better than bonding with your community over a good stroll, and there are several events in Los Angeles where you can get those feet moving.
NAMIWalks Greater Los Angeles County Mental Health Festival is both a Walk and an Information Event taking place May 10th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Los Angeles State Historic Park.
Next, in Whittier, they’ve got a Take Action LA Whittier Walk on Saturday, May 17th, from 8 a.m. to Noon. Once again, it’s free, and you can find all the details here.
Lastly, if you want to get out there but haven’t found your pod yet, consider Meetup, which breaks down groups by neighborhood and interests.

Get a Little Sober Curious
Wednesday, May 14th is the 3rd annual The Great Curious Cocktail Party, hosted by Curious Elixirs, a booze-free brand with a line of adaptogenic beverages. The soiree will be part of the free Vibes After Five event in Culver City that prioritizes partying without the poison. The Great Curious Cocktail Party in Los Angeles will be part of more than 100 events going on at the same time across the country!
The FREE event takes place at the Stealth Building (3528 Hayden Avenue) from 5 to 8 p.m., and no RSVP is necessary. Expect music from KCRW’s Novena Carmel, Lawn Games, Food for purchase, and Complimentary Curious Elixirs.

Eat Like a Kid Again
If ice cream were free, would you eat it for every meal? Well, that’s just what Handel’s Ice Cream is hoping to entice you with for the grand opening of their new location in Burbank.
Be among the first 50 Guests to walk through their doors on May 15th, 2025, and you can win FREE ICE CREAM FOR A YEAR (Must be 18 years old, terms and conditions apply*). It should be noted that each Handel’s Ice Cream is independently operated, and this location is led by husband-and-wife team Phil and Molly Kaye, a writer and therapist, respectively, who are thrilled to be part of creating a gathering place for the neighborhood.
The address is 353 N. Pass Ave., Burbank, CA, and doors open at noon.

There will also be Healthcare Education Sessions that promote Mental Health Awareness.
