Happy Halloween, Los Angeles! Start celebrating now THROUGH October 31st with 34 Halloween ideas happening all over the city. Spooky Treats, Crafty Cocktails, All Night Fiestas, and Plump Pumpkins – this list has everything you need to enjoy all the frightening feels at any age.


Journey to Oz for a Wicked Afternoon Tea! In anticipation of the upcoming Wicked: For Good film, The London West Hollywood at Beverly Hills is setting the stage with a deliciously themed afternoon tea.

The Wicked Witches Afternoon Tea begins with your choice of Tea, featuring the classic selection from The London Hotel as well as new flavors like Butterfly Pea Flower & Lemon Verbena (which changes color) and my personal favorite: Fantastic Mushroom. Next, you’ll be treated to a tower of London Tea Sandwiches, including Black Brioche with Smoked Salmon and Crème Fraiche and Apple Roasted Chicken on Onion Profiterole, along with a row of “Not So Wicked” Sweet Pastries and Cakes. Flavors include a delectable Ube Mousse Cake and a rich Flying Monkey Frozen Soufflé. The tower is accompanied by a plate of Warm Scones with clotted cream and all the fixings. If you’re feeling extra wicked, add on a Defying Gravity Elphaba Cocktail.

Reserve on OpenTable for Saturdays and Sundays from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. But don’t delay! The Wizard can only see you for a limited time. The cost is $84 per good witch.

Available now through HalloweenPrimo’s Donuts will have Halloween-themed donuts at both the Westwood Village and Sawtelle locations. The variety includes black and orange donuts with seasonal sprinkles in addition to a line of Eye-Ball Donuts! Order it for delivery anywhere in the country with Goldbelly.

Also on the menu at Dunkin’ Donuts is the return of their famed Spider Donut on October 15th. New for 2025 is the launch of the Candy Bar Latte and a Halloween Munchkin Bucket.

Lastly, head to ’90s throwback Hall Pass Ice Cream for a new flavor that’s perfect for Halloween. Trick or Treat flavor features creamy vanilla ice cream with Oreos, Kit Kats, Reese’s, M&M’s, and Twix and is available now through October 31st.

Stay Spooktacularly Safe 

The annual Montrose Halloween Spooktacular is probably the safest way to take kids trick-or-treating. All the shops on Honolulu Avenue in Montrose open up to give away free candy from 5 to 7 p.m. on October 31st. There’s also nothing scarier than going to a big event with no parking, but this stretch of the 2200 to 2400 blocks of Honolulu Ave. has tons of free spaces if you get there early. Make sure to visit Sage Fitness at 2321 Honolulu for a special Train or Treat promotion.

Also perfect for the little ones is the 18th Annual DTLA Halloween Festival for Kids.There will be trick-or-treating, magic shows, a craft station, and some serious costumes. Tickets are $13 pre-sale or $15 at the door. Kids under 3 are FREE!

There’s no reason to wait until October 31st to trick-or-treat. Head to the L.A. Zoo for their Boo at the L.A. Zoo programming, happening October 18th, 19th, 25th, and 26th. Visitors can experience goodie stations, an extinct animal graveyard, spooky story time with acclaimed authors, and much more for the same price as admission. Hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and you can get day-specific details on their website.

Lastly, when in doubt, take the kids to the mall. Westfield Century City will be hosting an event from 4 to 8 p.m. and chances are all Westfield Malls will be taking part in the fun.

Climb Aboard a Haunted Hayride

The Los Angeles Haunted Hayride is riding again at Griffith Park, and this year has an Elvira theme. Tickets begin at $39.99 and run through November 2nd. Get yours here.

Do you feel like Halloween should be more athletic? Well, then, this is the event for you! The 6th Annual Witches Paddle is happening on Saturday, October 25th, when witches and warlocks paddle their surfboards to shore in the South Bay. The event begins at 10 a.m. and is FREE to enter. You just have to register.

Sip on some Sinister Swigs

‘Tis the season for curated cocktail collections. Black Lagoonthe highly acclaimed Halloween pop-up, is back at the Melrose Umbrella Co., The Corner Door, and The Ordinarie from now through the end of October. Expect a themed atmosphere and some creative cocktails. See the link for Black Lagoon to find out more.

The Obscure Distillery is decked out for Halloween, and it’s a great time to enjoy a trio of curated cocktails in a frightful environment. Get tickets here for Thursday through Sunday, including all taxes and tips. It’s a must for a death-defying date night.

Grab your goblet and head to the rooftop bar Broken Shaker at the Freehand LA in DTLA for some Sinister Swigs, like a No Foamo pumpkin espresso martini with coconut foam, and a Lowkey Margarita with apple spice, cranberry liqueur, and tequila.

Lastly, Hollywood Distillery, located across from the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and home to a former mortuary, is kicking off its opening with Spooky Bevvies like Beware of the Evil Rye ($20) and Double Double Bourbon Trouble ($22). These drinks are available every Saturday on the 11th, 18th, and 25th, and outside of those days you’ll have to book your experience. The distillery is open Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Choose Brains over Boos

Roguelike Tavern in Burbank is famed for its trivia events, but on Halloween, they are dressing up as something different. Visit beginning at 8 p.m. for a Costume Contest (Winner gets $50), Food and Beverage Specials, and Hi-Ho Karaoke. There is no cover.


Get your Pick of the Patch

The options are endless when it comes to spooky pumpkin patches, but some are kid-friendly, too.

  • The 91st Annual Fall Festival is on at The Original Farmers Market on October 18th and 19th from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Featured offerings include Mr. Jack O’ Lantern’s Pumpkin Patch, Urban Saddles Equestrian, and a Petting Zoo. It’s free to enter.
  • Nights of the Jack at Gilette Ranch in Calabasas offers acres of Jack-o-Lantern fun for all ages from now until November 2nd. The walking trail is 2/3 of a mile and includes a “Spookeasy Bar” for adults. The price begins at $29.35 per person, and kids under 2 are FREE.
  • Now until November 2nd, visit South Coast Botanical Garden in Palos Verdes for Magic of the Jack O’ Lanterns. Expect dozens of pumpkins decked out in lights and dazzling displays in the dark that all ages will enjoy.
  • Tanaka Farms will be open for a U-pick Pumpkin Experience from now until October 31st. Online reservations and parking passes are required. The cost is $23 to enter, and that includes wagon rides, a corn maze, and more. Kids under 2 are free.
  • Take your pick of the patch at Mr. Bones for pumpkins, slides, and a petting zoo in Culver City. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days, and the event runs from October 4th to the 31st. Check the website for pricing because it depends on when you go.

What do you do if you have no kids and you’re over 35? Go out to dinner, of course! These two restos in Los Angeles are having the kind of specialty nights worth leaving the house for.

Halloween at Camélia: A Night in New Orleans takes place Thursday, October 31st, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. Enjoy dishes in the Arts District like you’re on a reimagined bayou with Grilled Oysters with Garlic ButterChicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo with Hatcho Miso, and Classic Cocktails like Sazeracs and French 75s. Halloween at OTOTO in Echo Park is serving up a Studio Ghibli Night from 5 to 10 p.m. on October 31st. Dishes inspired by cinematic classics, like Totoro’s Sakura Denbu Bento and Ponyo‘s Ham Ramen, will be served. Miyazaki-inspired costumes are encouraged!

Delight and Discover at Descanso Gardens

If you have little ones, this is a must-visit spot in La Cañada Flintridge for Halloween. The gardens are decked out from now until October 30th in true pumpkin patch fashion for their Carved event.

Best of all, there are no scares here, so even your littlest goblin will have a good time. Costumes are encouraged all month. Tickets are discounted if you’re a member, so it might be a good time to join Descanso Gardens since they’ve also got the Enchanted Forest Event that kicks off after Thanksgiving. 

The pumpkins are on display all day, but they really come alive with lights after dark. Tickets for Carved begin at $20 for members and can be purchased here.

Face your Fears

Knott’s Scary Farm in Buena Park promises EVEN MORE FEAR this year! The entire theme park is transformed for Halloween with rides, mazes, and over 1000 scary creatures. Tickets are available for Halloween night, beginning at $64. Hours are 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. most nights.

Toddler Tip: This event is not recommended for children under 13.


Enjoy a Spooky Screening

Friday, October 24th to November 4th, there are screenings of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas in 4D. There’s also a Fan Event screening for Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 23rd. Get your Tickets here.

Head to Heritage Square in Pasadena for three nights of SFC Presents: Boo-ze, Bites & Frights as part of Street Food Cinema beginning October 16th. The 21-and-over event features drinks, adult trick-or-treating, and screenings of spooky Halloween films like American Psycho and Terrifier 2. Early-bird tickets are $42, while GA tickets are $47. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for an 8 p.m. event. For more details on all the screenings, visit their website, which also features Halloween Films throughout October at other venues.

October 25th to the 27thThe LA Opera is screening “Spanish Dracula” at the historic United Theater on Broadway (formerly The Theatre at Ace Hotel), with a world premiere score from Oscar-winning composer Gustavo Santaolalla and a live orchestra. Get your tickets here.

October 31st is a screening of Scream, plus a Halloween Party at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for a 7:15 p.m. show; costumes are required. Get tickets here.

Level 8 Nightclub in Downtown Los Angeles is your home for a hauntingly good time with their annual Eight Deadly Sins Party. Each outlet of Level 8 reflects a different act of debauchery, and it’s up to you to pick your poison. Hours are 8 p.m. to 2 a.m., and tickets begin at $27 on Bucketlisters.

On October 30th and 31st, Desert 5 Spot will host a Vampire Saloon beginning at 8 p.m. and running until the real vampires come out. Tickets begin at $15.

Also, on October 30th and 31st, you can visit the rooftop at Bar Lis for a Haunted Maison Mansion, beginning at 10 p.m. There is no cover, but if you really want to dance the night away without a wait, reserve a table.

Lastly, MAXIM HALLOWEEN 2025: “Where the Wild Things Are” will be happening on Friday, October 31st at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Doors open at 8:50 p.m. and tickets are available here beginning at $81.88.
