Here’s How to Brunch at Bacari Silverlake

The Bacari franchise has been dropping into neighborhoods since 2008 with its first location in West Adams. Bacari PDR came next in Playa Del Rey in 2014, and Bacari GDL opened in Glendale in 2017. Bacari West Third opened in 2018, and they’ve recently opened Bacari Sherman Oaks as of 2023. The restaurants are helmed by partners Danny and Robert Kronfli, along with Chef Lior Hillel. The menu features food with an Israeli-California flair and all the food is meant to be shared. Here’s how to brunch at Bacari Silverlake, focusing on Cicchetti small plate dishes instead of larger entrées.

Bacari Silverlake

You may recognize this space as the restauranteurs took over the old Cliffside restaurant in Silverlake. It was known for being one of the most romantic restaurants in Los Angeles. The restaurant is almost entirely outdoors, and it makes you feel like you are brunching in the treetops. The space was revived by M.Winter Design and is meant to be reminiscent of an old Herbalist Tuscan Farmhouse. Plus, it’s actually a working farmhouse since Chef Hillel uses the garden plants in his cooking.

How to Order

The menu for brunch at Bacari Silverlake is divided into Cicchetti and Sweet. You’re encouraged to order about 3 to 4 dishes per person in your party. Savory dishes with eggs tend to come out before the Pancakes or the Sweet items just as nature intended.

What to order

Menu highlights made famous at other locations include the Bacari Fries with addictive BCN sauce and the Shakshouka with tomato sauce, egg, and served with a warm, toasted baguette.

A taste-standout is the Chilaquiles with house-made tortilla chips, Oaxacan poblano cream, pico de gayo, lime, and topped with a fried egg ($10). You also can’t go wrong with an order of Shawarma Chicken Tacos with lemon garlic tahini if you’re in the mood for something a little more lunchy than brunchy.

Sweeter Cicchetti items include the Chef’s French Toast on house-made brioche and a Dutch Baby Pancake that is gluten-free and resembles a souffle topped with creme fraiche and mission fig honey.

If those don’t satisfy your sweet side enough, head down to the Sweet section for Bread Pudding made of clover honey custard or The Best Cake you’ve Ever Had made with Medjool dates, brown sugar caramel, and Bacon.

Dinner for Brunch

Something I love about brunch at Bacari Silverlake is eating dinner for breakfast, as the whole menu is up for grabs. The Oaxacan Pasta is handmade and features Oaxacan cream, romesco, and toasted almond.

You also can’t go wrong with the Asian Pear & Brie Pizza, which is great for sharing.

Now what are you drinking?

The late-night sensibility of Bacari bleeds into Brunch with their 90-minute open bar with Mimosas, Bellinis, Wines, Sangrias, and Beers ($35). You can also order by the glass. Next, Specialty Cocktails with a Silverlake flair are also available from Beverage director Erin Earl. Highlights include the Sinners Nectar with bourbon, blood orange, pomegranate, molasses, and lime.

Non-alcoholic brunch beverages are also available, like fresh-squeezed Orange Juice and a Cappuccino topped table-side with frothy milk.

Can the kids come too?

Not only does Bacari Silverlake have a kids’ menu, but they give your kiddos things like crayons and paper airplanes that will make the brunch “fly by” for them. The Children’s brunch menu features items like Grilled Chicken Breast with sides like Buttered Pasta or Steamed Market Vegetables.
