Chips Ahoy! has a new Recipe, and the Difference is Noticeable.
For the first time in 10 years, there’s a new Chips Ahoy! recipe, and if you’re a fan of the #1 Chocolate Chip Cookie in the United States, there’s no doubt you won’t be able to taste the change. After doing a taste taste, I’ve got the real details on what’s different in this new and “mmmproved” recipe, plus the scoop on how you can win a luxury weekend in Malibu courtesy of the brand.

What’s New for the New Chips Ahoy! Recipe
It took over 5,000 hours of testing more than 60 recipes to come up with a brand new taste for the beloved Chips Ahoy! Chocolate Chip Cookie and it boils down to the chocolate chip. This one promises to be even tastier—with a higher cacao content and a higher concentration of Madagascar vanilla extract. This is meant to offer a “well-rounded chocolate flavor while reducing bitterness.”
How about the texture? The ridges seem to have been smoothed out a bit, and each cookie is bursting with an even amount of chocolate chips. They also appear to be brighter in color.
How will you know when you’ve got the new cookie? The packaging has been updated with a matte finish and background graffiti. It’s also got a “new and better taste” label in the corner.
What do a Kid and an Adult think of the Recipe?
I had the pleasure of doing a blind taste test with my 8-year-old, and he definitely had some thoughts. While I can appreciate the new, slightly up-leveled taste, my son preferred the old batch, feeling the new recipe was a bit bitter and powdery. The more we ate, though, the less he noticed the changes :).
