The New Napa Rose is in Bloom at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
Fine-dining restaurant Napa Rose has been dormant for the last nine months, busy peeling back the layers of the quarter-century institution to reveal something truly special for the next generation of Disneygoers. The restaurant reflects the great state of California, from the cuisine to the intricacies of the Mission Vine chandelier and terroir displayed on the wall. If you’re planning a night out at Disneyland that even the kids can be a part of, then look no further than Napa Rose.

What’s on the Menu at Napa Rose?
Chef Andrew Sutton, Culinary Director of Signature Dining at the Disneyland Resort, has been involved in the creation of Napa Rose since its inception in 2001. The new menu follows California’s seasons and is under the day-to-day guidance of Executive Chef Clint Chin. Guests are invited to enjoy a 4-Course Tasting Menu in the dining room or a selection of Small Plates in the bar and lounge. The prix fixe menu offers at least four choices for each course, so you don’t have to worry about being locked into something you don’t like. There’s also a Vegan Tasting Menu designed by Chef Juan Melendez, with one choice per course.
During the 4-Course Tasting Menu in February, you may enjoy Oak-Roasted Forest Mushrooms with Kyoto carrot as a first course and Wild Boar Agnolotti or Sorpesine Pasta with Pacific butter as a second course. All pastas are made in-house.

Entrée options in the winter season range from Colorado Rack of Lamb to Sautéed Sustainable Fish with ancient grains and green beans.

For dessert, a Nantes Carrot Cake Crémeux with compressed pineapple or an Elevated and Reminiscent Valrhona Chocolate Bar awaits you, courtesy of Pastry Chef Nubia Renteria.

The wine program designed by Patrick Kirchen features more than 13,000 bottles, thoughtfully displayed throughout the restaurant. Adding a Wine Pairing to your meal allows the full scope of Napa Rose to really shine through, as its roots lie in the California wine country.
If you don’t partake in alcohol, a robust list of Non-Alcoholic Cocktails, Wines, and Sparkling teas is at your disposal.

The Children’s Menu at Napa Rose
Perhaps you’re thinking, “children, guffaw!” But until they’re old enough to entertain themselves up in your hotel room, you might have no choice but to bring them. Fortunately, there is a prix-fixe menu that they will gladly partake of! And why not start them young on the finer things in life?
For the amuse, you have a Honey-Banana Beehive, which I imagine to be a nod to a certain Pooh. Appetizers include Vegetable Spring Rolls and Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup.
As your child’s main, they can enjoy everything from Breaded Chicken Piccata with mashed broccoli to the ever-popular Pasta with their choice of sauce.
Dessert is a Chocolate Doughnut Sundae, and I can’t imagine you’ll hear any complaints about having only one signature choice.
The Bar and Lounge at Napa Rose
If you’re without a reservation or just looking to eat on a smaller scale, sit down at the gorgeously redesigned bar and lounge area toward the front of Napa Rose.
The Cocktail Program offers reimagined spins on the classics, but with California touches. Each Signature Cocktail is inspired by a different area of the Golden State and is crafted with regional-specific ingredients. The Big Sur “AHH” might be made with Kentucky Bourbon, but it’s the local Sage Blossom Honey Syrup and Cardamom-mulled Syrah that really bring it to life.

Decadence is paramount in the lounge area, where you’re encouraged to indulge in a glass of Champagne or a Special Glass of Wine while you sample Beef Tartare on buttery brioche, topped with a mound of Osetra Caviar. Might I suggest a glass of You can only try this here…, a wine from the collection, only available until it’s not.
Additional menu offerings include Hawaiian Ahi Tuna Carpaccio, Pepita-Crusted Zucchini Blossom, and Berkel-Sliced Charcuterie with accompaniments such as Iberico Paleta, olives, and dried fruit.

Take a moment to admire the lounge landscape while you’re tasting heaven. Perhaps you can identify the 10 handcrafted gold leaves that reflect California’s native plants adorning the walls?

Make it an Overnight
There’s nothing more satisfying after a lavish night out than taking less than 100 steps to your hotel room to surrender to the mattress. If you’re more aspirational, perhaps you’d prefer a nighttime romp through Disney’s California Adventure Park. Again, only steps from Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. In fact, you can see the landscape of Grizzly Peak from the Napa Rose dining room.
All hotel rooms can accommodate 5 Adults, so you can book a Standard Room and easily fit a family of 4. The Bathroom Amenities are next level, with toothbrushes and razors included without you even asking. There are also small Disney touches throughout, from Chip and Dale carvings on the wall to Mickey ears on the wooden step stool by the sink for shorter guests. An amenity only a family-conscious hotel would think of.

The craftsman-style lodgings are warm and welcoming, with a roaring fireplace in the lobby and oversized leather seating in every corner. Children will love the Cartoons on Loop with seating designed for their size, and a Storytellers Cafe that often features a few celebrity sightings.

The attention to detail is second to none at this Disneyland property, and it’s the perfect home for a Napa Rose.
