What’s New in Food
Critically-acclaimed, community-driven restaurant Tomat is hosting a pop-up with Bad Luck Bagels on Sunday, February 1st. A portion of the proceeds will be benefiting CHIRLA, whose work to advance the civil rights of immigrants and refugees is more needed than ever. The event is from 10 a.m. to last Smoked Trout and Bagel standing.
Singapore’s Paradise Dynasty at the Americana at Brand has just launched a Weekday Happy Hour that will have you eating linner more often. Visit Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and you can take 50% off almost anything! That includes their famed Xiang Long Bao Dumplings, 50% off all Dim Sum, 50% off Rice Dishes and Noodles, half-off on Appetizers, and $3 Draft Beer and Wine Specials.

Kick off Black History Month at modern Afro-Caribbean hotspot Lucia in Mid-City. They’ll be serving a different Weekly Menu Series honoring Afro-diasporic Cuisine beginning on February 4th with Africa | The Source. Flavors to ponder include a refined Ndolé with bitter greens and smoked peanuts and Charcoal-roasted Lamb with fermented sorghum and hibiscus. Reserve on OpenTable.

Dine LA is going on now through February 6th, where you can get some awesome prix fixe deals on lunch and dinner at 375 restaurants! You can even click a box to only show you Michelin-rated restos. Pretty sweet.
Highly rated Firstborn from Chef/Owner Anthony Wang has decided to go prix fixe format, with a very modest price of $68 for a four-course experience. The change is designed to allow smaller parties to taste more dishes, and get a more rounded experience at this Chinatown gem.
Chado Tea Room invites you gather your “ton” and join them for a Bridgerton Afternoon Tea Service. The Netflix show Bridgerton returns for a new season on January 29th, when this service will become available. Reserve your High Tea experience for $69 until March 15th via OpenTable.
Also in Bridgerton news, Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream has got two new flavors to celebrate the show’s new season. Queen Charlotte Sponge Cake is already in stores, and Earl Grey Crème Brûlée will be out February 9th. Purchase here for Nationwide Shipping or Pickup.
National Frozen Yogurt Day is coming up on February 6th, and Yogurtland generally celebrates with BOGO deals. Members can also earn double points on that day.
All’Antico Vinaio is doing a sandwich collaboration with the internet’s “King of Sandwiches,” Owen Han, for one month only! La Mediterraneo consists of Prosciutto di Parma, Burrata, Sun-dried Tomato Pesto, Shaved Fennel, Lemon zest, Fresh Basil, Arugula, and Calabrian Chili Oil ($22). This is one of the most popular sandwich chains IN THE WORLD, and it’s expanded from Florence to open multiple L.A. locations. I’ve been back a few times and it lives up to the hype – and the price.

LA’s iconic diner, NORMS, is playing a featured role in the new film Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die starring Sam Rockwell. The film’s writer, Matthew Robinson, came up with the idea while frequenting the restaurant, and for the director, it was a film school hangout. The film hits theatres on February 13th, but you can enjoy the new thematic menu items beginning February 2nd. The Hostess Snoball is a featured topper, as is a signature Knife Garnish on your Hotcakes Stack ($9.99). Items will be available until the end of the month. If you visit February 17th, $1 from every stack of Snoball Hotcakes sold will go to No Kid Hungry in honor of their version of National Pancake Day.

Get Cultured
Frieze Los Angeles also returns to Santa Monica Airport from February 26th to March 1st, 2026. It’s a collection of 100 of the most exciting Art Galleries worldwide. Tickets are required and selling fast.
It’s Oscars Season at The Academy Museum in Mid-City. Check out the website for Special Screenings, Workshops, and Exhibitions. It all leads up to the 98th Annual Academy Awards on March 15th, 2026.
Feast & Film is on now at The Culver Hotel, which includes a 3-course meal and a cinema screening at The Culver Theater next door between 5 and 10 p.m. The cost is $65 per person and everything can be booked through OpenTable.
The Broad, in Downtown Los Angeles, is expanding to include live musical performances that support featured exhibits. Along with Robert Therrien, This is a Story you can enjoy the stylings of Wild Up on February 7th, as well as the debut of pieces by Sarah Davachi and Robert Takahashi Novak on March 7th. Reserve your ticket here for $25. The museum otherwise is FREE!!
Amadeus is on at The Pasadena Playhouse, and this ticket is so hot that they’ve extended the run through March 15th before the show even opens! Come see Tony Award-winning Jefferson Mays, nominee Lauren Worsham, and Broadway’s Sam Clemmett in a production directed by Tony Award-winning Darko Tresnjak, beginning on Wednesday, February 11th.

Speaking of Broadway, the iconic Patti Lupone will be performing in her acclaimed Matters of the Heart at the LA Opera on February 21st, 2026. The show takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion. Get tickets here.
Get into Music Mode
The 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be taking over The Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 1st at 5 p.m., and you can feel the music along with the presenters at these events.
- Attend BOOGIE NIGHTS, the exclusive disco party for artists and creatives, hosted by Producer of the Year nominee Alissia Beneviste. The fiesta happens Friday, January 30th, beginning at 10 p.m. at Sunset at EDITION, and an RSVP is a must!
- Visit The Grammy Museum just steps from where the action is in Downtown Los Angeles, either before or a few days after the event.
- Also, check out the Candlelight Concert Series featuring the music of legend Whitney Houston on February 6th. It’s an hour-long performance by a gorgeous string quartet among twinkling candlelights at The Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles. Tickets begin at $59.
Attend First Fridays
February 6th is First Friday on Abbot Kinney with Food Trucks from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Admission is free, but the food is not. Check the website for parking details. Get outside and mingle!
February 6th is the 20th Anniversary Celebration of First Fridays at the Natural History Museum. Tickets to the Night at the Museum event are $20 for members and $30 for non-members. Guests can expect DJs, Specialty Cocktails, and Science Discussions.
February 6th is also FREE Friday at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena from 4 to 7 p.m., during which access to all the galleries is open with no tickets necessary.

Watch The Super Bowl
Super Bowl LX takes place in San Francisco this year on Sunday, February 8th, but you can enjoy it right here in Los Angeles at these fun spots, or bring the party home with some killer catering.

Grab your Girls for Galentine’s Day
Galentine’s Day officially falls on February 13th, but festivities can technically happen anytime before Valentine’s Day. So enjoy this early one from Rootop Cinema Club in DTLA. It’s an entire mini-marathon of Parks and Recreation, the show that created the holiday! The screening takes place on February 5th, beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Feel the Feels on Valentine’s Day
This year, say I love you for lesson Valentine’s Day with multiple ideas on how to celebrate for $100 a person or less on February 14th.
Also for your consideration are Pasta-making Classes at IMPASTIAMO. You’ll learn to make Maritati Pasta, a Puglian pasta shape that literally means “married.” Along with your 2.5-hour cooking lesson, you’ll be treated to a Full Italian Dinner with Wine Pairings and an Open Beer Bar. The Chinese New Year Festival at The Huntington Library and Gardens in Pasadena takes place on February 21st, 2026. Advanced tickets are required for this all-day celebration.
Paradise Dynasty will be serving luxurious dishes through March 3rd at both its Los Angeles and Orange County locations. Think Braised Lobster with Vermicelli & Golden Garlic Sauce ($88.88) and Slow-Braised Pork Knuckle with Dried Scallop ($48.88). Hengry in Alhambra will be serving a special Prix Fixe Lunch and Dinner from February 17th to the 22nd. The restaurant specializes in Guizhou cuisine from Southwest China. The well-priced family meal begins at $300 for four to six guests with menu highlights such as Guizhou Spicy Chicken and Charred Chili Braised Pork Belly with Mustard Greens. Fill up on Fat Tuesday
Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday, also falls on February 17th this year, and the place to be is the historic Harold & Belle’s in South Los Angeles. Expect an all-day party with plenty of Mardi Gras Beads, Live Performances, Drinks, and delicious Cajun Cuisine from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. There’s no cover before 1 p.m., and it’s just $25 for anytime after that when the music really gets going.
Also not to be missed is the multi-day Mardi Gras celebration at The Original Farmer’s Market. It begins on Saturday, February 14th, with a Mutt Gras Parade at noon and continues on Sunday, February 15th. Details on musical performances will be updated on this link. February 22nd brings together music, memory, and brunch with Sounds From Afar – Mardi Gras and the Great Migration, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at multiple Michelin Bib Gourmand-awarded Flavors from Afar.

Get Outside for a Star Party
February 21st is a Star Party at the Griffith Observatory. Expect lots of telescopes, including solar ones, from 2 p.m. on. This monthly event is FREE for the public and offers a chance to see the skies as you’ve never experienced before, with professional astronomers on site to answer probing questions about the universe.

National Margarita Day falls on Sunday, February 22nd, which means you can really let loose. Stay tuned for updates on the hyperlinked post.

Visit a Secret Speakeasy
Tam O’Shanter’s one-word speakeasy is back beginning on Thursday, Feb. 26th at 6 p.m. Look for the red light in the back room to signal the party has begun. Getting into this prohibition-style cocktail corner isn’t as easy as OpenTable, though. You’ll need to email Jake Larowe for the secret password. Doors only open once a month.
Future Foodie Moments
Masters of Taste 2026 is coming on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 3 to 7 p.m. The food festival is held annually at The Rose Bowl in Pasadena, and you don’t want to miss Early Bird Pricing! Expect dozens of free tastings and pours from Master Chefs and Tastemakers in Los Angeles – with all proceeds benefiting Union Rescue Homeless Services. The host Chefs this year are Chef Thomas and Chef Vanessa Tilaka Kalb, the husband and wife duo behind Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery.
Also on the menu is Pizza City Fest Los Angeles, which will return to L.A. LIVE on April 25th and 26th, 2026. It’s two days of panels and pizzas, and tickets can be found here.
