Takeout that feels like a Night Out

Do you have covid-19 cabin fever yet? Well, even if you can’t go out for dinner it doesn’t mean you can’t switch up the scenery! Here are a few spots in Los Angeles for takeout that feels like a night out!

Be sure to keep checking back in as this list is updated often!

Bianca (Culver City)

Bianca, located at The Platform in Culver City, is the collaboration of Federico Fernandez (Executive Pastry Chef of the Four Seasons) along with Gianni and Nicola Vietina of Madeo Restaurante. It’s a blend of Italian, Argentinian, and French influences for an absolutely irresistible combination.

The takeout procedure is seamless, with a private window set up on the restaurant side. The bakery portion of the restaurant is open as usual with 6-foot distancing. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. most days.

Every single dish I had in my takeout order was delicious, so I highly recommend a little from each region of the world. From Italy, begin with the Polpette meatballs ($14) and Bufala Alla Caprese ($16) before digging into a pasta course like Orecchiette Cacio e Pepe ($26).

From Argentina, go with an order of Empanadas in flavors like chicken, octopus, or corn ($10). Next, choose a meat course like the Entraña a la Parilla con chimichurri with crispy potatoes and vegetables ($32).

Lastly, from France, you will be heading to the Bakery side where you’ll feel transported to a Parisian boulangerie.

Opennaire (Koreatown)

3-courses plus extras for $45 from Chef Josiah Citrin (Melisse)? No, you aren’t reading that wrong! Available through Tock LA, treat yourself to the best of the restaurant with dishes like a Gem Salad with aged goat cheese and truffle vinaigrette; “Surf & Turf” with Snake River sirloin and Hibachi grilled pawns; my favorite Charred Broccolini with green sambal and avocado; Smoked Carrots; and a Tart variation (persimmon is pictured). Sourdough Dinner Rolls with pomegranate honey butter are also included.

The menu comes with great reheating directions and the pick-up at the valet of The Line Hotel is a breeze.

Sushi Roku (Pasadena/Santa Monica)

Sushi Roku is making it easy to order out. First, there’s FREE delivery via Postmates, DoorDash and Uber Eats PLUS White Glove Curbside Pickup Service from Wednesday to Sunday (5 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Next, if you order over $50 and do curbside pick-up, you’ll get a $20 bonus card for future dine-in use!
