Summer is so close you can almost taste it, and this city knows it. Here’s everything you need to be doing in June in Los Angeles to get those vacation-mode feels, plus where to get FREE Ice Cream for the official start of Summer on June 21st.

Pride Month (All June Long)

Love is love all month long, but these are the events you just don’t want to miss:

  • Soulmate Pride Kickoff Event on June 1st from 7 p.m. to midnight. There will be complimentary bites from 8 to 10 p.m. with great music and entertainment. Admission is FREE when you go through Eventbrite!
  • WeHo Pride Weekend is June 2nd through the 4th in the West Hollywood Park area with a Music and Street Festival, and it culminates with a Pride Parade on June 4th at Noon along Santa Monica Blvd.
  • L.A. Pride in the Park in DTLA on June 9th with Megan Thee Stallion and June 10th with Mariah Carey. Tickets are required and selling fast!
  • The Pride Village Street Festival is going on June 11th in Hollywood to coincide with the L.A. Pride Parade from Noon to 8 p.m. Expect Food Trucks, Vendors, a Film Festival, and more! The event is free to attend, and it’s taking place between Vine and Gower Street.
  • The Rooftop Pride Party at The Aster on June 11th is your birds-eye view of the parade below. Enjoy Two Specialty Cocktails, Brunch, Music, and a Drag Show for $70 per person. Tickets are available on Resy, and the event begins as early as 10:30 a.m.
  • Sip and Strut Sundays at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood from 10 a.m. to Noon. Each Sunday in June will have a new Performer along with Cocktail Specials. Reserve with this link.

Concerts at The Hollywood Bowl (All June Long)

Festivities at The Hollywood Bowl begin June 3rd, with The Mariachi USA Festival at 6 p.m. Enjoy tickets as low as $25 with this link. Other June highlights include Janet Jackson on June 10th and the Jazz Festival on June 17th and 18th. Get more information on the whole season here.

Also of note, Sunday, June 18th, is the start of the Market Tasting Series from restauranteur Caroline Styne, where guests can try new local beer and wine purveyors during select Wednesday and Sunday concerts. The tastings are FREE, and you don’t even need to have tickets to the show to attend since it happens in the market plaza space. On June 18th, the Beer Tasting will run from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Enjoy Free Concerts on the Plaza (Thursdays in June)

Summer is in full swing at The Original Farmers Market in mid-city with Summer Sounds on the Plaza. It takes place Thursdays until August 31st when you can enjoy music from 6 to 8 p.m. Best of all, it’s FREE! The kickoff concert on June 1st features Paperback Writer, a Beatles tribute band.


National Doughnut Day (June 2nd)

Join Eva Longoria for a FREE Film Screening (Friday, June 2nd)

Be among the first to see the new film Flamin’ Hot, from Hulu and Searchlight Pictures before it hits the small screen at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes. Director Eva Longoria will be in attendance along with cast members Jesse Garcia and Annie Gonzalez, and Richard Montañez, whose life this film is based upon.

The screening is FREE and also includes Flamin’ Hot Cheetos-inspired Food and Vendors. The event runs from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Attend First Fridays at the Natural History Museum (June 2nd)

Party with the dinosaurs after dark during the First Fridays event at the Natural History Museum. This month’s theme is Fandoms & Fantasy: Superheroes and includes live music, signature cocktails, and curated family fun.

Enjoy Free Jazz Fridays at LACMA (Fridays in June)

Sway to the sounds of FREE Jazz every Friday in May, and continuing through November, on the plaza of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art beginning at 6 p.m. Check the calendar to confirm who’s playing.


World Cider Day (June 3rd)

Celebrate World Cider Day with Benny Boy Brewing and ZEF BBQ for a BBQ Beef Cheek Ramen and Watermelon Cider event from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 3rd. Tickets are $50 a person and can be purchased here. Benny Boy Brewing is located in Lincoln Heights.

LA Wine Fest (June 3rd and 4th)

Grab your cup to booze it up at the LAWineFest in Long Beach. There are two days of unlimited wine tastings, craft beer pours, food tastings, and more! General admission begins at $80 or $52.50 with this link.


Eat Outside during Smorgasburg LA (Sundays in June)

Happening on the weekly at Row DTLA is the outdoor food festival known as Smorgasburg. It’s a great opportunity to try the hottest mobile restaurants of Los Angeles, which often make up some of the best bites. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, June 4th is Hollywood Bowl Day, featuring “bowl” themed vendors that are perfect for picnics.

Get Immersed in these Experiences (Ongoing June)

Immersive events are still all the rage and offer an over-the-top way to experience your favorite things. Below are three that are perfect for family fun:

  • The World of Barbie at Santa Monica Place lets you enter lifesize Barbie experiences like the Dreamhouse, Space, and of course, the Closet. Tickets begin at $25.50 for children 12 and under and $34.50 for adults. Purchase here for 1-hour time slots.
  • Bubble World offers rooms full of bubbly fun, including V.R. Technology and plain old-fashioned bubbles. Tickets begin at $20.90 for kids 4-14, and adults are $26.90. Purchase your tickets here. The event takes place in Montebello.
  • The Friends Experience is happening in Long Beach beginning June 24th, 2023. Guests can enjoy set recreation experiences, photo opps, and you’ll even take home a free mug. Tickets begin at $30 but are selling out fast!

Attend a Garden Party (June 10th)

Celebrate the seasons at The Norton Simon Museum’s Annual Garden Party in Pasadena, taking place in the Monet-inspired garden from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Expect live jazz music and a chance to sketch or create floral ornaments. The event is free with your museum purchase, which offers an opportunity to see the All Consuming: Art and the Essence of Food exhibit on from now until August.

Taste the best at the Mighty Cool Pinot Event (June 15th)

The Mighty Cool Pinot wine and food tasting event features wines from the Santa Lucia Highlands presented by top California vintners. Overall, there will be 75 Pinot Noir Wines to taste. Best of all, $10 from your ticket will go to help Augustine Wine Bar (Sherman Oaks) rebuild after a devastating fire.

Enjoy Movies Outdoors (Ongoing June)

Participate in some of these food+film screenings where it really starts to feel like summer.

  • Cinespia is your home for cemetery film screenings under the stars, although this season, they appear to be moving around a bit, with locations like The Greek Theater and L.A. HIstoric Park. If you want to enjoy a classic film at their classic screening spot, check out Gentlemen Prefer Blondes on June 17th. Doors open at 7:15 p.m. for a 9 p.m. showing.   • Rooftop Movies at the Montalbán features screenings of The Goonies on June 17th, Footloose on June 18th, and many more.   • Street Food Cinema is happening all over Los Angeles, including The Autry Museum, Verdugo Park in Glendale, and Will Rogers State Park, among others. California Watermelon Festival (June 17th and 18th)

When an event has a mascot named Wedgie, you know you’re in for a good time. Head to Hansen Dam in the San Fernando Valley for all things watermelon during the California Watermelon Festival.

This family-fun event runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on both days and features All-you-can-eat Watermelon, Live-Music, Carnival Games, a Beer Tent, and more. Get more details on the website, plus purchase your tickets ($18 for adults and $13.50 for kids over 3).

National Martini Day (June 19th)

Probably my favorite of the boozy holidays, enjoy today kicking back with the most classic of cocktails: The Martini!

  • Musso & Frank’s in Hollywood has been open since prohibition, and they’ve been serving Martinis, stirred never shaken, since the 1920s, always with a sidecar that keeps it at the perfect temperature.
  • Café Basque, located at the Hoxton in Downtown Los Angeles, serves classic French food in even classier digs. They also have a $7 House Martini made with vodka, dry vermouth, blanc vermouth, and an onion brine. 

Get Free Ice Cream for the Summer Solstice (June 21st)

Summer officially begins Wednesday, June 21st, and residents of major cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Washington, D.C., can celebrate with a majorly sweet treat.

Chef Christina Tosi is giving away FREE MINI PINTS of her signature Cereal Milk Ice Cream at Milk Bar Bakeries while supplies last. If you’re not familiar, Milk Bar is famous for its innovative sweet and salty flavor combinations of cookies and cakes. One of the most popular is Compost Cookie which includes crushed potato chips and graham cracker crumbs.

The free Mini Pints feature a “cereal-steeped milky base” and caramelized cornflakes.

Take Free Dance Lessons (June 23rd, June 30th)

The Music Center’s Dance DTLA is back with its free dance lessons every Friday night from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Jerry Moss Plaza. It kicks off June 23rd with Hip Hop, and it’s great for all ages and levels. Get more information on all the events here.


Rosé Day LA (June 24th)

Although National Rosé Day is technically on June 10th, that’s not stopping this event from holding it later in the month. Head to King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas to tipple Rosé among the rolling hills for Rosé Day LA. Tickets begin at $175 and that includes an open bar.
